The village Liptovské Kľačany is situated at the altitude of 672 m, in the central part of the Liptov region and the entrance of the Kľačianska Valley (Kľačianska dolina). Most of the village area belongs to the protected area of the Low Tatras National Park, below the peak Chabenec.
Liptovské Kľačany was founded in the district of Ľubela. The first written reference is from the year 1474. The church was built in 1878 on the foundations of an old gothic church, from which only a bell from the year 1612 was preserved. In the village, there are interesting original small old wooden houses.
Forests surrounding the village offer lots of undemanding walks, for example a very pleasant ascend up to the hill Brestovec to the hill Ľupčianska Magura, with the altitude of 1315 m. Able-bodied tourists can try to hike through Kľačianska and Dúbravská valley or to ascend to the top of the Chabenec peak or the Chopok peak. It is also not far by car to a water reservoir Liptovská Mara offering swimming, surfing and boating facilities. For those who look for health resorts, we recommend the spa Lúčky and the thermal water swimming pools in Bešeňová and Aquapark Tatralandia.
