The hill Salatín (1630 m) is the highest hill in the north-western part of the Low Tatras and its characteristic shape can be recognized from all mountains in the northern Slovakia.
The hill creates almost 100 m long narrow plateau with a noticeable trench. In the north-eastern slope there is a long ravine of the Small Salatín (Malý Salatín) with rocky walls, small caves of exceptional geomorphologic formations (e.g. Zbojnícka jaskyňa), zoo logic and botanic importance. Both, the upper par of the hill Salatin as well as the ravine Skalné-Hučiaky, are very precious.
Salatín is a very attractive spot for tourists. All hikes to the top are very steep in their end, but offering breathtaking view at the Liptovská Basin (Liptovská kotlina), the main ridge of the Low Tatras, Small Fatra (Malá Fatra) and the Great Fatra (Veľká Fatra).
